Amma massage: a little history
Sitting Amma is a traditional Japanese art of acupressure, 1300 years old. It draws its principles from traditional Chinese medicine.
In the West, in the 1980s, this massage technique was revived by David Palmer (USA), inventor of the ergonomic chair used for this practice.
Ancestor of shiatsu, this massage incorporates a series of movements (kneading, vibrations, percussions...) which aim to relieve muscular and nervous tensions.
Unlike other massages, this one is performed on a chair, where the person receiving it sits comfortably and remains clothed.
